About the Order Process

You will be required to conduct a feasibility check on your address to confirm which provider is available in your area (there may be more then one). Once you have decided on an FNO (Fibre Network Operator), select your monthly package and place your order.

Upon receiving your Vox contract, which will be sent to you for approval via SMS/Email, as well as a copy of your South African ID, your order will then go through the RICA verification process.

Once your order is approved, we will place the order with the Fibre provider who will schedule the installation date with you.

On the scheduled date the Fibre line and ONT (Fibre provider Optical Network Terminal) will be installed, and the line handed over to Vox.

The Fibre data account will be activated by Vox.

Vox will install the Wi-Fi router on an agreed-upon date.

Billing will be activated.

Special Terms and Conditions

The following applies to all Vox Fibre to the Home packages

Vox requires no less than 1 (one) clear calendar month’s notice for the cancellation of the Fibre to the Home service, sent in writing to cancellations@voxtelecom.co.za or processed online (vox.co.za) via the MyVox customer portal.

Final confirmation of availability is subject to the Network Operators’ final Mapping Feasibility results after Vox has placed your order.

The element of the Service that is comprised of the provision of the Circuit is provided to the specific address set out in the Subscriber Agreement with a Circuit leased by Vox from a network operator. Accordingly, the provision of the Circuit is not transferrable to another premises. A cancellation is necessitated by relocation, and all requests for the service at a new premises shall be subject to a feasibility study in order to determine the availability of fibre infrastructure at the new location.

Promotional pricing is subject to availability, either from the upstream network operator or Vox and may be withdrawn at any time without notice.

Services offered by Vox are all subject to standard and non standard once-off set up and configuration or Installation fees. Should Vox offer to conditionally waive or subsidise the standard fee(s) and the Customer terminates the Customer’s subscription within twelve (12) months of activating the Circuit, the full installation or set up and configuration fee is payable as part of the termination fee. Termination fees will not be pro-rated.

Each network operator defines its own standard installation. If a non-standard installation, re-installation or any move of equipment is required, the Customer shall be responsible for the costs of any facilities, extra cabling, additional trenching and other expenses that are necessary to install the Circuit. Such costs shall either be charged by the relevant network operator directly to the Customer, or through Vox, depending on the business model of the network operator.

Due to the nature of the Internet, Vox can only control IP throughput rates from the user network interface of the Equipment to the point of interconnection between the Vox Network and the Internet. This means that under the Fibre to the Home service terms, Vox does not manage your home network, and Vox is not liable for the performance of your Wi-Fi network.

Vox will allocate FTTH customers with 60 free minutes each month. Once your free minutes have been used, a low call rate of R0.46c per minute will be applied.

Fibre to the Home (FTTH) is an advanced broadband internet connection technology. It uses optical fibre to deliver high-speed internet directly to individual buildings, including households, apartment complexes, and businesses. These fibre optic cables, composed of strands of glass, transmit data using light pulses. With FTTH, users can achieve remarkable speeds of up to 1000 Mbps.

ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) operates over existing copper wire infrastructure, which is frequently unreliable and heavily shared among users. It provides average speeds of approximately 4 Mbps. In contrast, Fibre Optic technology transmits data as light impulses along flexible glass fibres, enabling users to achieve blazing speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps. In fact, Fibre connections are approximately 250 times faster than their ADSL counterparts.

To determine if Fibre is accessible in your vicinity, you can use our coverage map. Go to the Vox Shop and input your address, and we will then display the available Fibre Providers in your area.

If Fibre isn’t currently accessible in your area, you can use our coverage map on the Vox Shop to provide your details via the “keep me posted” option. We’ll notify you promptly as soon as Fibre becomes available in your vicinity.

However, if you prefer not to wait or require an interim solution, we offer a variety of other connectivity options. Our convenient coverage map will also inform you about alternative services available at your specific address.

When it comes to the progress of your order, Vox ensures that you stay informed. You’ll receive notifications via SMS and email throughout the process. Whether it’s updates on installation, activation, or any other relevant milestones, Vox has you covered!

The feasible Fibre infrastructure provider in your area that Vox partners with will installs the Fibre cable from the road into your home. They will connect the Fibre line to an ONT device (the Optical Network Terminal, or ONT device, is also often referred to as the modem). We’d recommend that you are at home at the time of installation, to ensure you agree with the installer on the placement of the cable and the ONT device.

Once your order is placed and the Fibre Provider confirms that your home is ready for installation, the installation process typically takes approximately 14 working days.

For standard installations, your Vox Wi-Fi router will be installed by a dedicated Vox engineer once your Fibre line has been installed and Vox has received handover from the Fibre provider.

For a Self-Install process, your Vox router will be delivered after the installation date has been scheduled with the Fibre provider. This means the router will be delivered to your home prior to the Fibre provider installing the ONT. You can then install your Wi-Fi router by following the easy step-by-step guide once the ONT has been installed.

No, Fibre operates completely independently of your traditional voice (analogue/copper) line.

Yes, If you’re considering switching to Vox, here are some options for managing your telephone services:

Number Porting:
You can port your existing telephone number to Vox. This ensures that you retain your familiar contact number even after the transition.

Vox VoIP Services:
Explore Vox’s VoIP offerings, such as Vox Supafone or the Vobi App. These services use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, allowing you to make calls over the Internet.
Benefits include potential cost savings—up to 30% on call expenses compared to traditional phone lines.

Uncapped Calling Plan:
Alternatively, consider adding Vox’s uncapped calling plan to your package. With this plan, you can make unlimited calls without worrying about usage limits.

If you port your number to Vox and subscribe to VoIP services, you won’t need a traditional landline, and you can save on monthly fees.

However, if you still have an analogue copper line with a telephone, you’ll need to continue paying Telkom for voice services.

Yes – it’s simple and easy to change your existing product to a Fibre product. Log in to your online Customer Zone Account and select the option to upgrade to Fibre, and request a cancellation of your current internet service. Alternatively, you can contact our Sales teams on 087 805 0003 who will assist you with placing your order for Fibre order.

Yes, you do need a different router/modem. The Fibre router must be compatible with Fibre technology. When you sign up with Vox, we will furnish you with a suitable router/modem based on your chosen package.

Vox connects you to the internet and manages your connection once physical installation has been completed.

While Vox’s Fibre services do not require a 12-month contract, we generously waive the installation and/or set-up fee upon sign-up. However, here’s the important part: if you choose to cancel within the initial 12-month period, those conditionally waived installation and/or set-up charges will be billed back to your account. It’s essential to keep this in mind when making your decision.

Yes. You would have to log a cancellation with your existing ISP and place an order with VOX, and inform Vox that there is an existing ONT installed.

Fibre infrastructure providers charge an installation and connection (or activation) fee to install Fibre into your home. However, Vox offers FREE installation and connection, provided that the customer stays with Vox for 12 months.

Vox offers free installation on selected packages. A dedicated engineer will assist with your installation.

Yes, should you cancel your Vox Fibre service within 12 months from activation of your Fibre service, or your account falls into arrears, you will be charged a cancellation fee. This fee is dependent on the Fibre provider.

No, Vox does not charge a delivery fee for the router.

No, Vox does not charge a monthly fee for the router. This is included as part of your bundle.

Absolutely, upgrading or downgrading is a straightforward process. With Vox’s month-to-month contracts, you have the flexibility to upgrade, downgrade or cancel your Fibre to the Home service as long as you provide one calendar month’s notice.

Please note, if your fibre service is cancelled within the first 12 months of activation, a cancellation fee may apply.

Important:

We can only accept written cancellations that are submitted in writing by the authorised contact person listed on the account.

Your Fibre service is tied to a specific location, so you cannot transfer your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and router to a new address. If you move, you’ll need to cancel the service at your current residence and place a new order for your new home.

Fibre is static and cannot be moved. Your new home may or may not have fibre coverage. If your new home does have fibre coverage, a different Fibre Provider may be available in the area. In addition, if you were to take your existing fibre equipment with you to your new home, Vox would still need to place an order with the Fibre provider to connect the service to the ONT and provision and activate your fibre line.
